Four Times Tom Zarek Was in Love, and One Time He Wasn't
by Julia

Spoilers up to 3.04. Rated G. (For 'Getting jossed tonight.' Enjoy the ep, you all!) So, yes, I'm on a bit of a Zarek roll, and this thing bit me last week. I'm sure it's just a phase.

With many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] solo____ for late night emergency feedback, and apologies for, uh, the other thing.

Written for the BSG Hiatus Laura-and-Lee Fixathon, the deadline of which blew past me with a big fat swoosh yesterday, to [livejournal.com profile] sdwolfpup's request, which you can find at the end.

SDW: I hope you enjoy it and that it meets your expectations, and I'm really sorry for the delay.

Beta'd by [livejournal.com profile] solo____, who'd have earned my firstborn by now if I had one to go around and if she wanted it.

Thanks also to [livejournal.com profile] anonymous_sibyl and [livejournal.com profile] asta77 for letting me bounce canon discussion off them.

Better Things
by Julia

Roslin/Lee. Set during LDYB, rated Adult. 8.500 words. One very exhausted writer.

The one where first they won't shut up, and then won't get to the point. Seriously. )

The request I picked (out of two). )

Five Ways Lee Adama Never Met Laura Roslin
V. 44

by Julia

Rated PG. Gen. Very gen. Not even illicit arm-touching. Forgive me.

That's it, folks. The last one of the (mostly) mini-based AUs. This is the one that gave me the idea to do a Five Things series in the first place, and it's still my personal favourite. (Except on days when one of the others is my favourite, of course.)

Previous Ways:
I. Close to the Ground (Adult)
II. Lies My President Told Me (Gen, PG)
III. Anoint (R)
IV. Kids (PG)

With much thanks to [livejournal.com profile] solo____ for the beta. You give such good comma.

by Julia

Rated PG. Mild first season spoilers. 4,400 words.

Previous Ways:
I. Close to the Ground (Adult)
II. Lies My President Told Me (Gen, PG)
III. Anoint (R)

[livejournal.com profile] solo____ went beyond awesome this time. She was also extra special awesome for setting me straight way back when and keeping me from getting stuck with what would have turned into a boring-ass epic. Betas are the best. Mistakes and hissy fits are all mine.

The soda stand was right beside the folks with the banners and signs, who were looking a little too intense for Lee's comfort.  )

Five Ways Lee Adama Never Met Laura Roslin: III. Anoint

No, nobody actually asked me. :-) I had a lot of doubts about this story in its various stages of completeness, and even considered putting a disclaimer on it to that effect. But I've decided to take up a certain someone's suggestion of doing a separate meta post, since I've had these issues floating round my brain for the last few days, so if I can get you interested in some writerly navel gazing...

Rated R. Vague first season spoilers. No jacket porn, though.

Previous Ways:

With many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] solo____, who did her beta thing and made this so much more fun.

Happy birthday [livejournal.com profile] asta77! I hope you have a lovely day.

With much appreciation for your general awesomeness, and a special thank-you for all your hand-holding and couple-counselling during my and BSG's recent crisis, a small present.

I wanted to write you happyfic, but alas, I couldn't smack those two hard enough to get them to happy. Maybe next year? ;-)

Cold Up There
by Julia

Roslin/Lee. Rated (very, very mild) R. Set between Home Part 2 and Final Cut.

With many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] solo____ for speedy beta and bravery in the face of great comma torture.

II. Lies My President Told Me

Rated PG. No spoilers past the mini. Gen. Very, very gen. Not even repressed lusting. I'm so ashamed of myself.

10k words, or thereabouts. (The idea that I started Five Ways as a nice and easy distraction from the WIP still makes me laugh, like, a lot. In a slightly insane way. But the next one will be short! Grrr! I shall defeat this!)

[livejournal.com profile] solo____ beta'd, and then she beta'd some more, and then she kept me from driving myself mad, and then... you get the picture. She rocks. Silliness and mistakes are, as always, my own damn fault.

It happens somewhere else. )
jona: (R/L no one knows)
Uh, yes, it's been a while... but see, the story isn't dead! Told you! :-)

ETA: Okay, you can all laugh at me now. After my totally confusing, nutso very clever numbering system and being very sure about my three parts for part two... LJ informs me that the post is too large. ::headdesk:: So, let's add A and B to the numbering, because it wasn't mad enough already.

Things We've Done: Built

Roslin/Lee. (Eventually.) Rated PG. (Yes, still.) Spoilers for the entire first season, branches off after KLG. No spoilers for the second season. Part two of four. (Kill me now.)

Previous parts:
Part 1: Remained
Part 2: Built, 1/3, 2/3

[livejournal.com profile] solo____ did her marvellous beta thing and reined in my random referents. I am much obliged. Things that still suck suck only because of me.

Five Ways Lee Adama Never Met Laura Roslin
I. Close to the Ground
by Julia

Roslin/Lee. Rated adult. AU, obviously. No spoilers past the mini.

I am very grateful to Solo ([livejournal.com profile] me_n_thee) for betaing, and for only mocking me a little. The screw-ups are my own.

Thanks also go to [livejournal.com profile] asta77 for bouncing around certain ideas with me. She hasn't seen this, though, so it's really not her fault.

'I'm not sure how this happened' seems to have become a theme around here. I was hit by a 'Five Things' idea and I thought it would be a nice diversion for when the WIP angst was getting to me. You know, something shorter and easier that wouldn't drive me round the bend. Uh-huh. I will go hide now.

*~*~*~

On to the real point of this post...

I don't know where this came from. I owe fic to two people, I really want to get on with the story of doom, and it's not as if RL was particularly boring last week, either. And it's not even nice. But it wouldn't leave me alone, so I polished it up this weekend, and here it is.

In Good Faith
by Julia

Roslin/Lee. Ish. It started out as gen, but since it's Roslin, Lee, and me writing, consider yourselves warned. Rated PG.

Spoilers up to Home p.2. Futurefic. Warning for magical unexplained cancer cure.

Solo ([livejournal.com profile] me_n_thee) didn't run away when I told her I had crackfic for her to beta, and worked her beta magic at incredible speed. I'd say schmoopy things, but she might hurt me.

Feedback of any kind is always welcome.

Roslin/Lee. Rated PG. Spoilers for the entire first season. No spoilers for the second season.

Previous parts can be found here:

1:1/3, 1:2/3, 1:3/3, 2:1/3.

Again, Solo ([livejournal.com profile] me_n_thee) provided fantastic beta. It is, however, entirely her fault that there are no horses in this story.

Feedback of any kind always welcome.

Things We've Done: Built

I know, I know, it's an insane weekend for posting anything, let alone a post-KLG story when the real thing is just around the corner in the US. Oh well.

I had hoped to get part 2 of this story done before I'll have seen the new episodes, since part 2 includes almost the entire rest of the ice cream angst-inducing issues. But like I said, I'm never right about my ETAs.

As a result, posting this is even more WIP-y than the previous part. But since the whole aim of the WIP posting was to minimise the ice cream angst, here is part 1/3, of story part 2. 2:2/3 and 2:3/3 should be finished shortly, though still no ETAs, for obvious reasons. (And yes, this would sound a little less confusing if I called these parts chapters, but really, they're not. I do not mean to confuse! If anyone is not confused yet and has a bright idea how to better catalogue this thing, feel free.)

Things We've Done: Remained, the previous part, can be found here:

Things We've Done: Built
by Julia

Roslin/Lee. Rated PG. Spoilers for the entire first season. No spoilers for the second season. Am second season spoiler-phobe and a poor overseas fan who will have to wait a little longer for the new episodes.

Much, much thanks goes to Solo ([livejournal.com profile] me_n_thee), who provided kick-ass beta and spent half a day talking this over, wibbling on my part and all. It's always a pleasure. ETA: And she kicked my ass about smarter numbering, too!

This is the first part of a work in progress. Unless I am very wrong and then going to look like an idiot, there will be four parts altogether. Part two is underway, but I make no claim as to an ETA. None whatsoever, since I never estimate right anyway. Once it's done, which may be a while yet, it'll go up on my website and there'll be an announcement, for anyone who might be interested but dislikes WIPs. It will be finished eventually, come hell or ice cream angst.

I'm posting this in WIP form so I can stop thinking of the start of the new season as some sort of deadline that I'm never going to make anyway, and have more fun with fandom instead of fretting.

[livejournal.com profile] rheasilvia saw an earlier draft of this, and apart from letting me ramble on a lot about my shiny new fandom, she gave me some highly valuable feedback. [livejournal.com profile] therealjae helped me untangle plot issues at a critical point, un-stalling me when I was really, really stalled. Finally Solo ([livejournal.com profile] me_n_thee) had to listen to me whine (like, a LOT) and still provided wonderful beta under pressure. I am very much obliged to all three of you. Any remaining suckage is completely my own fault.

Spoilers: First season. Set post KLG 2.
Disclaimer: Not mine, no money, blah.

Written for [livejournal.com profile] coltsbane, who requested Roslin/Lee or gen. Elements to include were Gaius snark, Helo and Laura. I kind of feel I only managed two and a half out of three, so, my apologies.

Much thanks to [livejournal.com profile] meret and [livejournal.com profile] minerva_fan for very fast beta services. Remaining mistakes and oddities are my own. And as a general note, if you feel the urge to point out things you find very odd indeed, feel free; critical feedback is most appreciated.

Characters: Lee, Roslin.

Summary: It's a victory party. Somebody must have won something.

Much thanks goes to [livejournal.com profile] rheasilvia and [livejournal.com profile] meret for the beta, and for being so nice when I kept bugging them about details. Mistakes and clich├ęs remain my own.

Written to distract myself from the story that's eating my life, and because I love the episode. Angsty fluff. Questionable nutritional value.
